Her next adventure was Rational Software from 1991 until 1997. This was a formative period for Rational with the emergence of UML and RUP. Geri founded Wyyzzk in June 1997 to continue training and mentoring in UML and process. She runs the company and works as a senior consultant and mentor. In between other duties, she is Visiting Faculty in Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University. She and Jason authored the popular book "Applying Use Cases: A Practical Guide". Geri is a member of IEEE and ACM. Jason P. Winters has worked in the computer industry since 1981, starting with developing hardware, then firmware, then device drivers, then application code and ultimately doing system administration of mostly Unix and Linux systems. This gives him a broad perspective on solving software problems! His most recent endeavor was at Southern Oregon University where he was the manager of four computer labs, two in the computer science department, and two in the art department. He continues to manage all of Wyyzzk's systems and contributes his expertise to books and course materials, in addition to working in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. His goal is to continue there until completing a PhD in Robotics. Jason is currently investigating the use of legged robots in space exploration. Quite a busy guy! Since his very effective collaboration with Geri on "Applying Use Cases: A Practical Guide", Jason plans to write more books with her. Jason is a member of IEEE.
